[3rd POV]

[Battle of Point Ringo]

Blaster fire flung through the foggy air as the battle of Point Ringo raged on. Explosions hitting the muddy ground as the Republic advances to the CIS trenches. Chesty watched as his fellow 21st and other clone brothers fought on. Yelling and screams of clones fighting in the trenches with close quarter combat and hand to hand combat filled Chesty's ears as he charged the CIS droids with his fellow 21st, firing his Z-6 at any battle droid he saw.

During the battle, Chesty gets split up from the other 21st troopers. It felt like forever for Chesty as he ran, wandering around tired from carrying his Z-6 until he stumbled upon a burning CIS bunker and a single 212th Private. As Chesty got closer, he watched the 212th Private wave at him but Chesty stopped as out of the fog, a B3 appeared behind the 212th Private. Chesty yelled, causing the Private to turn in shock before the B3 lifted the Private off the ground by his head with its right arm, raising it's left arm, firing it's wrist blasters into the 212th Private, killing him. The B3 threw the body of the Clone into the wall of the burning bunker, not noticing Chesty just yet.

Chesty charged the B3 with anger, dropping his Z-6 into the mud. Yelling as he pulls out his Heavy Ping Launcher, firing five out of the six shots that were loaded in the launcher. The first two hitting into the B3s arms, causing them to explode off and the remaining three hitting the chest of the B3, causing it to drop to its knees. As Chesty was ready to fire that last shot, the B3 stood up and kicked a piece of concrete towards Chesty, right into his leg which made him filp harshly onto the muddy ground. Chesty groaned in pain as he rolled in pain. He slowly sat up to see that his knee was bending the wrong way, having a knock knee. Before Chesty could do anything else, he could see that the B3 was now over him, slamming it's right foot onto Chesty broken knee, causing him to yell out in pain.

Chesty could hear the deep laughter coming from the B3 as it's metal droid foot grinds harder on Chesty's knee. Chesty with his remaining strength raised his Heavy Ping Launcher and fired the last grenade into the face of the B3, causing it to explode, sending shrapnel of the B3 body around the area, killing the droid. A piece of the shrapnel had broken through Chesty's visor, ripping through his face and destroying his left eye. He laid there for a few seconds before he flipped to his side, crawling towards the 212th trooper's body. Pain rushed throughout his whole body as he crawled.

For what felt like hours, Chesty made it to his fallen clone brother and sat up beside him, leaning his back to the concrete wall of the destroyed bunker. Chesty eyesight went blurry as he held his Heavy Ping Launcher up, forgetting that it was empty. Chesty sat there, holding the launcher like it's a pistol waiting for an enemy combatant to walk through the fog, his eyes getting heavy. Chesty eyes opened fully for a second as he spotted four figures heading right for him. He pulled the trigger of the Heavy Ping Launcher, which made clicking sounds but nothing shot out.

Chesty kept pulling the trigger, still unaware that the weapon was empty. After a few seconds as the shadowy figures got closer, Chesty arm with the weapon dropped to his side. His eyes were getting heavier than before. He smiled under his helmet remembering his short life so far right before he passed out. Some of his memories are a little foggy but there is one that he will never forget.

[Chesty's POV]

[Five months after the first battle of Geonosis]

I remember my first assignment. It was simple, and supposed to be easy… until it wasn't. We were escorting a group of CIS senators that wanted to defect to the Republic. Our Acclamator had just left Kamino four rotations before meeting up with the CIS defectors. The Captain at the time for the ship, Kendal Ozzel was too easy to be inviting these Senators but I didn't really worry since there were two Jedi and a squad of Senate guards with them. I didn't see the Senators when they arrived since I was helping a cargo droid load a shipment of missiles to the hangar bay. That's when it happened. Explosions ran out through the ship all at once.

The main reactor, fire control station, and the hangar bay. This causes the Acclamator to be ripped out of hyperspace, soon crashing towards the planet of Tatooine, which is Hutt space. I was knocked unconscious once the ship was ripped from hyperspace, only to be awoken by the two Jedi. Jedi Knight Dasjazl Berwey and her Padawan, Domjar Bowkred.

After helping me to my feet, I could see that I was in a torn apart hallway of the crashed ship, a bright light emitting from the outside. Once we made it out and onto the sand. All I could see was sand, clone bodies and the Acclamator that must have been ripped in half when crashing. The two Jedi, and I explored the area finding two Senate guards, and five other clones throughout the wreckage that were able to walk. As it grew darker, the Jedi led us to the back end of the ripped in half Acclamator. I looked up and could see lighting in the still bridge that looked like it only sustained minimal damage.

It took us a while to make it to the bridge where we found two surviving Naval clones, one of the Senators and Captain Ozzel. Everyone but the two Naval clones seemed to be in a panic, especially the Captain. I don't remember what happened that night except for the Captain and the Jedi Knight getting into an argument, and I didn't really care what they were arguing about either. I fell asleep standing up shortly leaning against a wall after the argument, which for some odd reason, was probably the best sleep I had ever had. I didn't dream that night but I remember waking up to some kind of commotion from the others.

I noticed that the Senator, the Senate guard and the Jedi Knight were missing from the bridge. I looked over at a trooper trying to calm down the Padawan. Before I could speak, Captain Ozzel spoke up while watching something outside the broken bridge window.* “Shame… I was hoping to get that Senator back to Coruscant. Seems like those pirates will get to them first.” Ozzel said before he backed away from the window. Causing the Jedi Padawan and I to rush towards the window.

I watched in the distance as the Jedi Knight looked to be chasing after the Senator and the Senate guard in the dunes of the sands. I also noticed six sand speeders flanking the three from their right. I looked over at the Padawan, seeing the fear in his eyes for his master before looking back outside. I signaled from one of the troopers to hand me a weapon as I kept my eyes on the speeders heading for the unsuspecting Senator, Senate guard and Jedi.

The trooper handed me a DC-15A, which probably wouldn't hit them but I hoped I could maybe distract the pirates away from the three. I took in a long breath and relaxed before my trigger finger gently brushed the trigger. For a moment, I felt like time slowed down, the target of the lead speeder seemed like an achievable shot. I was about to take the shot, but was interrupted by someone behind me.

“What are you doing trooper!? You want to give away our position? Do you know what they will do with me if I am captured!?” Ozzel yelled out, breaking my concentration. He yanked my shoulder, spinning me around to face him. He continued to yell at me and started threatening me now with court marshaling me. I drowned out his words but kept my eyes locked onto his with a look of anger under my T-shaped visored helmet. My right hand became a fist as he continued, puffing up my chest.

As he continued to yell at me, I imagined that he probably noticed that I had puffed up my chest. He looked even more mad and yelled out while tapping on my chest armor, “Don't puff up on me, Mr. Chesty! That's your name now since you want to be all tough! Chesty!”

He had pushed me over the edge, and I was ready to knock Captain Ozzels's teeth in, until something stopped me. The Padawan screamed out in horror, causing me to turn away to look out the window. Only to see the Jedi Knight overwhelmed by blaster fire by the pirates on the speeders. The Senator and their guard must have been killed as Captain Ozzel was yelling at me, since I can see them lying on the ground in the far distance, lifeless.

I really wanted to strike the Captain at that exact moment but as he looked out the window, he cried out that the pirates were now coming our way. Which he was right, who couldn't pass up a brand new Republic military crashed Acclamator? It was an easy target but I doubt that the pirates knew we were up here which was good for us… Up until Ozzel went back to the window and fired his blaster out at the pirates, missing every shot by a mile, but I was sure the pirates noticed.

What a fool I thought. I couldn't imagine anyone like him being a Republic Naval Captain but I couldn't think of this for too long as I watched my clone brothers pick up arms and stand ready, blasters aiming at the door. This was it I told myself, this is how it all ends. I would never see Coruscant, never feel the rain of Kamino again, never fight the fight I was told I was going to fight since I was a child in the Kaminoan Clone training facilities.

The Padawan, with tears in his eyes, stood in front of the front near the door, igniting his lightsaber as we stood ready for the pirates to enter the bridge. It was quiet, maybe even calming to me. The anticipation of it all, not really sure if I was ready to die, even if that's what I was made for. Then it happened, the door to the bridge blowing clean off, unfortunately killing one of the Naval Clones who couldn't get out of the way fast enough.

The battle with these pirates to my memory is a blur now that I think of it. Maybe I was just tired of watching my fellow brothers, who I hadn't even met before that day, die up in a crashed Acclamator. After that battle, I remember walking on the hot sands of Tatooine with the Padawan and Captain Ozzel. The three of us being the only survivors left from this tragedy of the events that had happened so far. As we walked for countless hours, Captain Ozzel complained the whole time as the Padawan and I ignored him while we walked.

As we walked, the suns had begun to set over the horizon, the dry heat soon cooling off a bit. My head ached with pain, but so did my tired body. I felt my body about to give up as we continued, my mindset soon starting to feel hopeless. I soon heard Captain Ozzel say something which didn't make much sense as he fired off his blaster to our left, “Tusken raider! Chesty! Shoot the Tusken!”

I turned to look at this Tusken raider that Ozzel was screaming about, and he wasn't fully wrong. There was indeed a Tusken on top of a dune about one hundred yards off but there also stood a mysterious figure in Jedi robes next to him. The hood Jedi looks strange because the hood sat higher on his head like there was a cone under the hood. I couldn't tell who it was exactly but knew it was a Jedi. As I was about to say something, the Padawan and Ozzel began to argue. I turned as I watched Bowkred tried pull the blaster away, which caused Ozzel to fire one more shot.

It soon went silent as I fell to the ground. Ozzel blaster’s bolt hit me in the face, taking my left eye. It felt like forever as I headed straight for the sand. I remember my vision blacking out. “This is it. I die from accidental friendly fire from a Captain who I believe should never lead… At least I know the Padawan will make it home safely.” I told myself before blacking out.

[3rd POV]

[Four days after the battle of Point Ringo]

Chesty shot up from his hospital bed wearing a hospital gown, looking around while breathing heavily. He noticed that he was in a Kaminoan hospital with other clones from battlefields from across the galaxy. As Chesty looks around, he fails to notice someone at the side of the bed since they were standing on his blind side. A brand new 21st Galactic Marine helmet landed onto his lap, startling him before turning to look at a familiar face. Chesty chuckled as he picked up the helmet.

“You know Chesty. You gotta stop wasting so many perfectly good helmets and glass eyes. At this point, you might even catch the attention of Chancellor Palpatine with how much the Republic has to replace your helmet.” The trooper next to Chesty remarks with a bit of sarcasm in his voice, as he took off a brand new 21st Pilot helmet.

Chesty nodded and looked up at the trooper for a moment before looking back at the helmet. He sighed and chuckled a bit before speaking. “So… You became a regimental pilot, Destrus? Are you going to return that DC-17m you acquired since you won't be joining up with the Grenadiers?” Chesty asked looking back at Destrus knowing full well that Destrus would never give up a weapon like that.

Destrus laughed and began to walk away from the bed. His helmet under his right arm as he spoke one last time to Chesty in that hospital room, “You owe Wolverine, Mango, and I a drink when you are out of here. I'll let Commander Bacara you'll be out of here soon. The war is not done with you yet, Captain!”

Chesty laughed and looked down at his new helmet, before flipping it upside down to fix the straps inside to his liking. He sighs and looks out a window with a smile before saying something aloud to him, “Yeah. See ya guys soon.”

(Notes: This is the first time I have done something like this in a long time. I wrote this in the course of a few days with my free time at work. I love feedback, good or bad. Let me know what yall think here. Also stay tuned for "The Death of Chesty")
