3. Why would you like to become a Gamemaster Coordinator?
I wish to become a Gamemaster Coordinator for mostly the same reasons as before. I love being a GM on this server and have, for almost all of my 1200 hours, been a GM in some kind of way. Becoming a part of the GMC team would mean I can assist newer GMs more easily, assist our current GMCs with their work, and help draw up guidelines and suggestions for the GM team as a whole. It is very sad that I had to take down my old GM application due to personal health and mostly family problems; otherwise, I would have never left the GM team at that time.
Another reason is the way the GM team currently operates. I have noticed that GMs have been holding back a lot over the last few weeks since I came back. A bit has changed, of course, with new maps and regulations, but I wish to increase the GMs’ passion with their events, leading to more frequent and, most importantly, consistent events by providing them with a new GMC they can talk to and discuss their problems, suggestions, and complaints with.
4. If accepted for the position, what can you bring to the table as a Gamemaster Coordinator?
This is, for me, the hardest question, as I cannot really say what I can bring. I definitely know how to handle myself and how to work with the people in the current GMC team and Management. Additionally, I have been gathering bits and pieces of ideas from other GMs and myself that I would wish to implement and change for the GM team. Of course, I also know how to handle people and how to talk with them in a way that does not make me seem like the biggest snob asshole they have ever seen. I try to be cool-headed and speak with people on a neutral level in any kind of matter, not using my personal beliefs when handing out punishments, promotions, etc.
5. If you see anyone using their powers off duty, such as spawning stuff, freezing people, or arresting people (the job doesn’t come with an arrest stick), how would you respond if it was the first time?
This is very dependent on the situation, as the surroundings also play a big role in the decision of how to handle them.
If they are doing it with approval of the receiving party and everyone involved is okay with it, for example using the physgun to throw someone off the DB stage because it is funny and everyone, including the pushed one, laughs and does not mind, then I would take no immediate action and just remind them that they still have an image of professionalism to uphold.
If, however, the other party is not consenting to this whatsoever, they would definitely receive some kind of punishment. This is also dependent on how much they did. Freezing a player, for example, could be a verbal warning, while arresting multiple people for no reason can be a reason to get kicked or demoted. So, context of the situation is important and would decide how I react to this situation.
5a. From the previous question, what if the same stuff happened multiple times in the past? How would you proceed?
Similar to the question above, situational context is important here as well. If the person has been punished for this behavior before, it is of course a new reason to start disciplinary actions against the person. The severity of the action is also dependent on how many repeated offenses there have been and with what severity before.
6. A Gamemaster is having a crappy event. What would you do and say?
I would not try to take over their event. I would only step in if it was unsaveable and just the worst event the server has ever seen, which by comparison itself is hard to achieve. If needed, I will join the event VC and try to help the GM hosting the event with the event itself, making sure that the players can still somewhat enjoy the event, guiding the GM a bit along the way, and clarifying for both players and GC what the actual goal of the event is, making sure people know what they are supposed to do and ensuring that the enemies are not out of proportion.
After the event, I would gather feedback from players and other GMs who played the event, as well as GC and any ECs they might have had during the event. After successfully doing so, my next move is to approach the GM hosting the event and give them a full rundown of the feedback and what I noticed while playing myself or helping them in their event.
If it is their first time, it serves as a learning experience and something to take notes from so they may improve in the future. Action only has to be taken if they are repeatedly ignoring advice and feedback from players as well as other GMs. That is a blatant failure to follow rules on their part.
7. Any warnings? (Staff/GM/Server Strikes)
No
Thanks for reading through my yap session. I do think enough time has passed since my last app, and I’ve been able to sort out quite a few problems during that time!
