Nah fam, the only time I've been close to it was on the GamingLight SCP server with a crying child saying I was meta gaming because I bumped into him while he was cloaked and gunned him down during a raid without thermals. I don't know man, maybe if you bump into something that isn't a prop its either staff a GM or a cloaked person, and I want to shoot it no matter what because its ruining my immersion in my 20 year old Children's Game of a Garry's Mod Roleplaying Server.
On a scale from 1 - 10, how would you rate your creativity?
8-9. I thought it was a 6 or 7 (67!!), but the more I sat on it, I realized my ideas was better than I realized. Quest Mastering is more flexible because its about making a catered experience while I feel like events and gm is generally the complete opposite of that. Quest making in this server allows for things epic and roleplay but also memeing. :)
Why do you want to become a Quest Master?
Originally I wanted to be a quest master because I was a CT on that grind before Pyke became alive and I refused to join any other battalion. So I spent a lot of time playing quests and grinding to max wilt os for stats and some ravager for trooper stuff and found a lot enjoyable and bruh (still better than GL quests except the auto events but even that's whatever). I thought Quest Master was a subbranch of GM lmao and no one told me about how to get there besides that I saw that Resin was one and that Zap and Noah makes stuff.
Welp too late but whatever I'm on that grindset still.
Among all gmod rp servers, I swear even the best has always something that isn't truly possible to do unless you had like full time staff and control like a DND campaign but that's not physically possible for a game server with "live" action rp. People go in here versus battlefront or squad mods because they want more interaction but its not a free lunch.
In my experience as Assistant Head GM at some dead server known as GamingLight, events and gm are cool rp but they require cooperation and on a semi serious that's hard to imagine and regulate without alienation also player retention and server uptime etc accommodating to as many people as possible as being monetarily viable.
To prepare for the unexpected, that is the job of a GM. I always wanted to bring milsim or like a Lone Survivor recreation or Blackhawk Down, 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi, The Outpost, or Zero Dark Thirty into rp but it never went right. But alas it always ruins the heart of those willing to RP a specific way.
But what if you did it the completely other direction?
What if you were able to control the whole idea and the exact rp the way it should be, without forcing people to do it? I got inspired by Skyrim/Fallout sort of deal and want to explore what's possible with MQS, Resin has inspired me with the CT Fortnite questline. But now imagine self inserting into a storyline and then getting rewards that applies to the rest of game like money or like downtime or even exp for your glorious stats.
Questmaking allows for really specific and truly immersive experiences for those willing to play and may get stale, but always replayable.
There is a great untapped purpose of the quests and it may be taking away from events if we do it boring, but when done right it compliments and doesn't remove the purpose of GMs. Just like how games will have multiplayer and singleplayer.
Do you have any experience with MQS Quest Making System?
Nah, this is the first server I've seen with it (cool stuff btw) and that makes me curious. I've seen GL's custom mission thing by Beckett but I really felt like it didn't allow for creativity while this one does. There's so much possibilities with this.

I'll do you one better actually. I'll give you 4 of them. Two serious, Two joking.
Serious but Ground: "The Sky in Sky Corps"
Player goes to a LAAT prop that "brings you" to the sky and you're of inside it. There's a red lamp showing the interior like a air drop and a npc inside of it. You have the kit added of the extended jump pack, heavy ping launcher, IQA-11 or C variant, fortification tablet and DC15LE or A. They get a green light thing appearing after waiting and then the bottom door "opens," the player jumps down to clear a mini base and can land anywhere. All tools are usable as battle music plays as they mog the ops. While this is occurring,they get a cutscene from the outside of laat to inside and also when they land to make it super dramatic.
After clearing, finding data, and rescuing a VIP, afterwards they have to signal a LAAT by raising a flag and upon initiation as a cutscene plays of them lifting the flag up, they have time to prepare and build as CIS close on to their location and they have to fight or die trying until the LAAT is able to light the area up for extraction so the trooper can get all the samples and the super destroyer isn't on orbit but at least he got the side objectives. then idk they can fight bugs or illuminate next I guess.
Serious but Air: "One Way Flight"
Player gets on an ARC-170 knowing that it will be a treacherous journey. It will auto type something for clarification that its taking off for a quest and honestly to prevent a lot of bruh, it'll be already in the air so they just have to fly forward. Then shows a cutscene of enemy ships they have to battle nearby. The player folds the ships but there's a city nearby and ground forces as a cutscene pans. But something goes wrong as there's Air Defenses that hits the player. The ARC-170 crashes. The player is dazed as he can't escape his cockpit as the ops pullup. He has to fight off waves as hopefully reinforcements arrive. He can walk out of the cockpit but there's not much room to work with or ammo. Just live until reinforcements arrive. But you somehow live enough to find a place of solace as you hunker down against threats that go to your room until you are at near death's door. You retreat, limping to the last room as your GAR brothers find you depleted and barely alive. You are transported back and will wake up at in front of medbay for your valiant survival against all odds. You are a hero.
Joking: "A Rubber Room"
A player finds a room speaking to them and its somewhere in the sim room but they blank out and get transported in a room that's white with rats and rats make them go crazy. They fold rats and keep going on as the room repeats but the room gets darker as the rats get brighter and stronger. But when you're about to die... the last thing you see is a pure white room and a table. It has your medication and space McDonalds. You get transported back to in front of SIM Room and apparently you just fell asleep... Must have been crazy that they locked you up in a room. A rubber room. A rubber room with rats. And rats made you crazy... Or so you think.
Joking: "Hangover"
A player starts a quest realizing that he doesn't remember last night. He drank a lot but what happened? He just remembers getting a bunch of "vitamins" from the Pyke. You realized you never read the label. It said only 2 gummies but you ate 3 and then you had multiple shots of what?!?! You don't know and the whole journey is talking to npcs and realizing what you did wrong and apologizing until you meet your op who is trying to set you up all this time for your removal in your battalion. He glazes your command and paid the pykes to give you more "vitamins," and attacks your weakness of being lonely and your hobby of "social drinking (as you say, not a problem)". You box each other and only one will stand. The other is no longer in the battalion. Maybe shock will arrest you? Or they did already? I don't know actually but you did just fold a fellow GAR trooper but at least snitches get stitches. I'll be honest didn't plan if they should end quest in front of brig or in front of bunks like they just woke up contemplating life either works.
I think all of my ideas are great and maybe not entirely possible but my goals are to bring these sort of ideas into the server and try to do it. People just ask for uniqueness and fun and sometimes want repeatability and grinding. I love to build things and love seeing it all work together just as I planned. :)
