# FoLdfN2gXiQtkezC1. Name: Stirling
2. Current Rank: 1SGT
3. Steam ID: STEAM_0:1:540186396
4. How Many hours do you have on the server?: 53
Why do you wish to Become a 2LT?: So far, I have thoroughly enjoyed my time both on the server and in shock. 2LT kit and privileges are both nice, but don't interest me as much. When I joined, there was a lot of restructuring in progress (and still is to an extent). My primary reason would be just to help out. I haven't had any issues nor heard of many, so its not that I think we need it, but I would like to provide the extra assistance regardless. The only other reason that would come to mind is more opportunities to take leadership roles both in and outside of events. I enjoy doing so, and I've been told I'm rather good at it. I'm not inclined to pull rank to take over, so it's more just for the opportunities the rank would open. to me, 2LT boils down to doing a little bit more to help out, and I'm entirely content with the job, mostly being cog work and assistant work.
What makes you qualified to become a 2lt over other Candidates?: Well, I wouldn't say I'm directly better than any other candidates that may arise and honestly I wouldn't push to take the position over them. I believe I am up to the task due to my prior experience with other servers and former high ranks in them. Even if not all of it carries over, I've been quite by the books, and I usually avoid unnecessary conflict wherever possible. I'm not a pushover on issues, but I respect when an issue is worthwhile or not. on my by-the-book nature, I always try to do things right, and if I'm ever unsure, I like to get confirmation to not make any mistakes. My first guess can be right, but if it's a guess I don't like to rely on it. Obviously, as an officer, I would need to make those guess calls, but that shouldn't be an issue either. I keep a good track record as is and I'm quick to improving.
What is the job of a 2LT In the Battalion?: Apart from management of the regiment, I believe its most important role is to act as the bridge between the lower and higher ranks. The higher up you get, the busier you get, which cuts out the trivial things. Not to mention you're going to have more lower ranks than higher, and with time zones and schedules, it's good to have capable people to fill in the ranks. Officers are needed for promotions as well. They can keep a better track of people individually and fill in the blind spots. They also work to further the battalion's reputation. Lower ranks' actions are not taken as seriously as many can end up being minges. As an officer, you represent a lot more and can do more to improve relations. Joint activities, as well can also be extremely helpful. It's your job to keep shock in line and make sure that the reputation we carry follows what we are like. I also personally believe it's an officer's job to have more communication with the lowest ranks. its easy to feel out of place or excluded in a regiment. the attempt to be noticed and not come off too strong can be a struggle. I think its vital officers can be there to give the lower ranks a core link to the battalion. you can keep better watch of them and give them the promotions they deserve when they earn it. the biggest killer is when no matter how hard they try they feel excluded.
Why should you be trusted with 2LT?: I'm the last guy to abuse any power I'm given and id always rather talk down a conflict than pull power or rules if its not necessary. I respect the idea these ranks serve the battalion far more than it does me. I get a perk or two but my only real reason is to help out. I respect how much the rest of shock has helped me out on the server and I like to pay things back. I also personally believe getting power hungry or being an ass on this is counter intuitive. its a game and we aren't even a fully serious server. we have rules and regulations to keep the fun going. if they got broken then we would have less fun. all in all I'm doing it just to help out and I really couldn't care less to do anything wrong with the role. there's zero draw to me from it. which I feel like should be normal but it aint so I guess its a selling point.
